It has already been an extremely hot summer for most Oregonians and we can expect it to get hotter. Use sunscreen, safety vests and drink lots of water while you enjoy the cool waters of the Sandy River. Read why some people are choosing the Sandy River over the swimming pool below.

Alenjadra Bates chose the river due to its temperature. ” The water is a lot colder than the pool,” said Bates, who spent her day floating down the river in a raft.  Caylin Smith, who joined Bates on her raft, enjoyed the opportunities the landscape provided. ” You can come and jump off cliffs and stuff rather than just a diving board,” said Smith.

The Sandy River can be accessed at various points along the historic Columbia River Highway including Dabney State Park.
