For some people it may be a bit too early in the year for camping, but not for Lisa and Andrew. All the way from Seattle, they came down to the Columbia River Gorge just to spend a couple days exploring, hiking, and to see what there was to see. Their trip included the Yakima River Canyon, the Goldendale observatory, the Umtanum Recreation Area, Beacon Rock State Park, Maryhill State Park, Trout Lake and so much more. On the second day, we made our way down the gorge, stopping for a little hike along the Deschutes River, then lunching at a roadside overlook near The Dalles, Washington after our first two choices (both nearby parks) were, once again, closed for the season. In the afternoon, we drove out of the gorge toward Mt. Adams, exploring the area a bit and getting some great views of the mountain.
